The famous St.Petersburg State ballet was created in 1990 by the family of professional ballet dancers and the dynasty that is more than 100 years old. 

Mission of St.Petersburg State ballet is to preserve classical heritage of The Mariinsky Theatre.

St.Petersburg State ballet offers a broad range of Russian Classical repertoire:

Rimsky-Korsakov), “Spartacus” (A. Khachaturyan), “The Sleeping Beauty” (P. Tchaikovsky), “The Nutcracker” (P. Tchaikovsky), “Giselle” (A. Adam) and others).

The searching of out of the ordinary choreographic forms and dancing devices, means of experience and range of ballets brought Saint-Petersburg Theatre “Russian ballet” the glory of one of the most renowned ballet troupes of the world.

That’s why the tour schedule of the Theatre plans for a year ahead. St.Petersburg State ballet constantly gets invitations from different foreign countries to perform there. And every performance in every country, in every citiy has a great success.

St.Petersburg State ballet has already met with recognition of the public in Europe, Asia and America (more then 50 tours Saint-Petersburg Theatre “Russian Ballet” had in Japan, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Israel, Spain, The United Kingdom, Finland, China, The United States of America and others). 

Every year St.Petersburg State ballet takes part in different Ballet Festivals in different countries of the world.

Russian Classical Ballet for all times was the visit card of Russian Culture and Russian Choreographic School remains the best in the world. The strong academic education is one of the most important parts of professionalism of Russian, and particularly Saint-Petersburg, dancers. In proving this fact another fact says: the oldest in Russia and in the whole world ballet school, The Choreographic Academy of Russian ballet named after Agrippina Vaganova, is situated in Saint-Petersburg.

The Choreographic Academy of Russian ballet named after Agrippina Vaganova was created in 1738 by the Great Russian empress Anna Ioanovna. 

At the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century national originality of Russian Ballet and stylistic devices of Russian ballet school based on the best features of the most renowned ballet schools of the world began to form. Later due to The Great Genius of Marius Petipa (The Genius Choreographer of Russian Ballet) and to Nikolay Legat and Olga Preobrazhenskaya (Two Great Teachers-Choreographers of Russian Ballet School), academic ballet repertoire was formed and classic dance reach an all-time high of artistic expressiveness and high-class professional soloists were educated.

Traditions of Russian Classical ballet school keep from generation to generation. And year in year out The Choreographic Academy of Russian ballet named after Agrippina Vaganova graduates the future ballet stars of the world.

Names of the most famous graduating students of the Oldest Russian ballet school are renowned all over the world. Matilda Kshesinskaya, Mikhail Fokine, Anna Pavlova, Tamara Karsavina, Vatslav Nizhinsky, George Balanchine, Marina Semenova, Galina Ulanova, Natalia Dudinskaya, Vakhtang Chabukiani, Konstantin Sergeev, Yury Grigorovich, Natalia Makarova, Rudolph Nureev, Mikhail Baryshnikov and others.

Artists of St.Petersburg State ballet are the graduating students from The Choreographic Academy of Russian ballet named after Agrippina Vaganova. Education of The Choreographic Academy of Russian ballet named after Agrippina Vaganova  enabled them to learn about features of real classical dance in theory and in practice too. They found their own style of performing and high-class level of dancing professionalism.
